Handa is a zookeeper that Panda works with at the zoo. He has a huge crush on Sasako and struggles throughout the series to express his feelings.
Appearance[]
In most of his appearances, he is seen in his zoo uniform which consists of a blue uniform with black sneakers, gray gloves, and a tag around his neck. Outside of work, he wears a green t-shirt with a red collar and the number 6 in yellow emblazoned on the front. He wears an off-white/tan suit jacket with it, along with tan khakis.
Personality[]
Handa is a very sweet and kindhearted man who loves animals and his job. He can find Panda's antics to be troublesome but he isn't bothered too much by it. When not working at the zoo, he is often found living a normal domestic life (going grocery shopping or cleaning) or helping other animals with their needs such as house shopping.
Plot[]
There are multiple episodes dedicated to Handa, mostly focused on making him popular with women (or with Sasako in specific).

Sasako[]

Handa met Sasako at Polar Bear's Cafe and was immediately enamored by her friendly personality and charm. He soon began to visit often, becoming somewhat of a regular to the cafe in order to see her more. Sasako has become friends with Handa but is completely unaware of his crush on her.
Panda[]
- Main article: Panda
Panda sees Handa as a boring guy but a good friend. Handa puts up with Panda's antics (such as eating his lunch and saying it was clearly made by an old person for a man and it was all one color) and helps Panda out whenever he can. He also acts like a parent to Panda sometimes by gently scolding him if he is lazy. Panda also learned of his crush to Sasako and will often try to help him.

- His favorite food is the end of a tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette).
- He likes collecting smooth rocks for fun.
- On his days off, he does laundry, cleans, and folds up his used shopping bags into neat triangles.
- Handa wished to get a girlfriend on Tanabata.
- At some point, he moved all the way from Michinoku to become a zoo keeper.
